How to Find Starfield Constellation Edition in Stock is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you want the Starfield Constellation edition, you’ll need to keep an eye on its stock as we push away from the game’s release date.

The Starfield Constellation edition is a $299.99 bundle and it comes with a ton of extras including a Starfield Chronomark Watch & Case.

The Starfield Chronomark watch LPV6 is an item your character gets in the game and Bethesda’s brought it to life in this special bundle.

Unsurprisingly, the bundle is hard to find. We may see retailers to provide additional stock down the road, but there’s no guarantee that happens.

If you don’t want to pay more than $299.99 for the bundle, and you manage to find it in stock, you should purchase the bundle right away.

If you’re interested in buying the Starfield Constellation Edition, you’ll want to keep tabs on its stock in the weeks ahead. In this guide, we’ll help you do that.

How to Find Starfield Constellation Edition in Stock

Your first option is to track the Constellation Edition stock manually. Head to the bundle’s page at a retailer like Best Buy or GameStop and bookmark the page.

Make sure you check for additional stock on a regular basis. You might even want to add a shortcut in your browser for easy access.

You can also use sites like NowInStock or StockInformer to do the heavy lifting for you. NowInStock and StockInformer allow you to easily track the Constellation edition’s stock without having to visit retail websites over and over again.

To do this, head over to StockInformer’s Starfield Constellation Edition page. This page shows the bundle’s stock history at various retailers and it updates every few minutes giving you a look at its current status. You can subscribe to set up alerts for your browser and get notified whenever stock becomes available at a retailer.

If you’d prefer to use NowInStock, head to its Starfield page. Here, you can set up alerts to get email, text or browser notification whenever the bundle is available. Here’s how to do that:

  • Register for a free account at NowInStock.
  • Check your inbox for a verification email and click the correct link to verify.
  • Go back Starfield’s NowInStock page.
  • Click Add/Manage alerts in the right corner of the screen.
  • Add an item to track it.

Once you add the bundle, you’ll see a menu where you can select to get text, email and browser alerts. These are free, unless you get carrier text message charges.

You can also check availability on resale sites like eBay and Craigslist, but you won’t be able to find the bundle for anything close to its retail price right now. We’re seeing listings in the $400 range.

That being said, if you’ve got money to burn and you really want the Constellation edition at your house ASAP, this is a route to consider.

If you want to start playing Starfield ASAP, read on to find out how you can jump into the game a bit earlier than its global release date.

Starfield’s release date is confirmed for September 6th. This is when the game officially launches on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows PC. However, there is a way to play Starfield a few days before September 6th. It requires some extra cash and a pre-order.

If you buy the $69.99 standard version of Starfield, you’ll get some pre-order bonuses, but you won’t get early access to the game unless you upgrade your order.

The most seamless way to play Starfield early is by purchasing the Premium edition or the collector’s bundle, known as the Constellation’s edition. Both of these provide you with up to five days early access to Starfield. At an added cost of course.

The Starfield Premium edition is $99.99. For that price you get the early release date in addition to some bonus items including the game’s first DLC expansion dubbed Shattered Space.

Bethesda’s Constellation edition is a whopping $299.99. For that price you get early access, the Shattered Space DLC, a watch that looks like the one your character uses in the game, and much more.

There’s also another way to get early access to Starfield and it’s aimed at those who buy the Standard edition, but want to upgrade.

If you buy the Starfield Standard edition, but decide you want the early release date (and more), retailers are offering a Premium upgrade for $34.99.

The upgrade comes with the content from the Premium edition, but if you order a physical copy of the game, you’ll also get the following items:

  • Steelbook Display Case (when purchased from participating retail stores)
  • Constellation Patch (when purchased from participating retail stores)

You won’t get these items if you buy the digital version of the Premium edition upgrade.

We should point out that while the Premium edition and Premium edition upgrade will always be available to pre-order, the Constellation edition may not be.

The collector’s bundle is already sold out at most retailers and it’s unclear when, or even if, they will get more stock in.

If you don’t want to spend time tracking it down and /or you simply don’t want to pay a ton of money for Starfield, the Premium edition is your best bet.

Bethesda’s confirmed the game’s unlock times for regions around the world. In the image above, you can see the unlock times for both the early release date and the standard release date.

The company says actual play time depends on your purchase date and will be subject to possible outages and applicable time zone differences.

How to Fix macOS Ventura Battery Life Problems is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

In this guide we’ll show you how to quickly fix macOS Ventura battery life problems on your Mac.

If you recently moved your Mac from macOS Monterey to macOS Ventura or one version of macOS Ventura to another, and your Mac’s battery is draining faster than you think it should be, there are some steps you should take before getting in contact with Apple customer service.

Restart Your Mac

If you start to notice abnormal battery drain on your Mac, the first step you should take is a simple restart. Power your Mac down, wait for a minute, and power it back on and see if battery life improves. If it doesn’t, move onto the next steps.

Update Your Mac

Apple will occasionally release new macOS software. Point updates (x.x.x) typically patch up bugs and security issues while milestone upgrades (x.x) usually deliver a mix of features and fixes.

The company may not list fixes for battery drain issues in a macOS Ventura update’s change log, but new software always has the potential to help. If you’re running older macOS software, think about updating to the latest software.

For more on the latest version of macOS Ventura, check out our guide.

Update Your Apps

Developers continually push new updates to their applications and a new version of an app could help alleviate the battery life issues you’re seeing.

Head into the Mac App Store and check for recent updates. If you’re feeling leery, dig into reviews from Mac users currently running macOS Ventura.

You’ll also want to click on the battery icon in the upper right corner of your Mac. If you see an app “Using Significant Energy” you’ll want to check in with the developer to see if there’s update, an update planned, or if there’s a known issue with macOS Ventura.

Check Your Mac’s Processes

It could be that one or more of your applications are hogging your Mac’s resources causing the battery to drain rapidly. You’ll want to investigate using macOS’ built-in Activity Monitor.

In the Finder, find Activity Monitor and open it up. You should be on a screen like the one in the screenshot above. Click the Energy tab.

Now click the Energy Impact tab. This will sort the list by the apps and processes using up the most energy. If you see an app or process using up a ton of energy, highlight it and click the “X” in the toolbar.

Check Your Battery Usage History

macOS’ Usage History gives you details about your Mac’s battery life over the last 24 hours or the last 10 days. You’ll find it in your Mac’s System Settings in the “Battery” section.

It’s broken down into Battery Level and Screen On Usage so you can see how your Mac’s battery is performing. If the readouts are way off, you might need to get into contact with Apple customer service.

You’ll also notice Battery and Power Adapter sections. You can select when to turn your Mac’s display off, turn power nap on or off, and a whole lot more.

Turn Down Screen Brightness

If you constantly have your Mac’s display at maximum brightness, it’ll drain the battery. We recommend enabling the “Automatically adjust brightness” feature on your device to help prevent battery drain. This option is only available if you own a Mac with an ambient light sensor.

  • Click the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Select System Settings.
  • Click Displays in the sidebar.
  • Toggle Automatically adjust brightness on.

You can also manually adjust the brightness of your Mac’s display. One way is to use the F1 and F2 keys on the keyboard. The other way is to use Control Center, located in the upper right-hand corner, and adjust the brightness using the slider located there.

Reset PRAM and NVRAM

If your battery drain issues continue, try resetting your MacBook’s PRAM and NVRAM. This resets some settings, but it doesn’t delete your Mac’s data.

Here’s how to do this. This will only work with Intel-based MacBook models.

  • Use the power button to turn your MacBook off.
  • Press the power button to turn your MacBook back on.
  • While it’s starting, press and hold the Command + Option + P + R keys together.
  • Continue holding the keys until you hear the startup sound twice.
  • Release the keys and allow your MacBook to start up normally.

Reset SMC

The System Management Controller (SMC) manages hardware functions on your MacBook like the battery. Try resetting it and see if your battery life improves. Here’s how you resect the SMC on a MacBook:

  • Use the power button to turn your MacBook off.
  • Press and hold the Shift + Control + Option keys and the power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
  • Release all keys and the power button.
  • Press the power button to turn your MacBook back on.

If you have a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air with Apple silicon, you just need to restart your device.

Downgrade

If you can’t find a fix for your problem and/or don’t want to wait for the next version of macOS Ventura, you can try downgrading back to an older version of macOS Ventura or an older version of macOS.

For more about the macOS downgrade, take a look at our walkthrough.

The Madden 24 release date lands on August 18th, but you can play the game right now.

One way to play Madden 24 early is by pre-ordering a copy of the game. You’ll need to buy a specific edition that costs more than a standard copy.

If you buy the Madden 24 Deluxe edition you get access to the game three days before it officially lands for consoles and Windows PC.

You can also play the game early if you subscribe to EA Play. The EA Play trial has some limits and you should be aware of those before you decide to go this route.

In this guide we’ll tell you about those and help you start playing Madden 24 early on your platform of choice, be it Xbox, PlayStation, or Windows PC.

Early Madden 24 Release Date

If you purchase the Madden 24 Deluxe edition or EA Play Pro edition, you get access to the game three days before its official release on August 18th. In other words, you can play the game right now.

The Madden 24 Deluxe bundle is more expensive than the standard edition so you’ll want to weigh your options before committing.

If you subscribe to EA Play, you can start playing a Madden 24 three days early. EA Play is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year and it includes trials for a number of EA games. The price also includes access to the EA Play Vault of games which are full length.

EA also offers Play Pro which is $14.99 per month or $99.99 for the entire year. In order to buy the Madden 24 EA Play Pro edition, you need to be an EA Play Pro subscriber.

How to Download the Madden 24 Trial

You’ll need to sign up for EA Play on your console or PC. Open up the EA Play website or EA app on your device and complete the sign up process. Again, you can choose to pay by the month or for a year.

With Madden 24 now live, you can find the game in the EA app right on your console or PC. Go to the Trials tab, then choose Madden 24.

On most systems you can also find the option to download the trial from the main store page, but you’ll want to make sure you’re downloading the trial, and not buying the game if you’ve already purchased it on a disc.

Madden 24 requires quite a bit of space on your device’s internal storage so you may need to free up some room in order to install it.

Madden 24 Trial Limits

If you go the EA Play route, you can only play Madden 24 for 10 hours. This lets you try out Madden 24 to see if you like the game enough to buy it. This is not a way for you to play the game for an unlimited amount of time or replace the full version of the game.

When you finish playing the trial, you should close the game from the dashboard. This will prevent you from losing any time with it running in the background.

In the past we’ve seen users create multiple Xbox Live accounts to subscribe to EA Play on multiple accounts and play for longer than 10 hours in the past. This is expensive and we don’t recommend doing it.

3 Reasons to Pre-Order Madden 24 & 4 Reasons to Wait

Pre-Order Madden 24 for These Bonuses

Pre-Order Madden 24 for These Bonuses

If you pre-order a copy of Madden 24 for your console or Windows PC, you'll get some bonuses with your purchase.

  • Josh Allen Elite Player Item
  • Choice of 2 Strategy Items
  • NFL Marble Bills Gear

If you pre-ordered the Madden 24 Deluxe edition or EA Play Pro edition by July 22nd, you will also receive a player item from the AKA Ultimate Team Program.

If you plan to invest time into Madden 24's Ultimate Team, you might want to pre-order a copy of the game today.

If you’re having AirPods issues or if you want access to the latest features, you’ll want to update your AirPods. This guide will show you how to keep AirPods, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, or AirPods Max up-to-date with Apple’s latest software.

Apple periodically pushes new software to AirPods, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Max. The releases aren’t as frequent as iOS, iPadOS, and macOS updates, but they’re still important.

AirPods software updates typically include performance improvements and bug fixes though occasionally they’ll bring new features as well. That’s why it’s important to keep your AirPods updated with the latest firmware.

If you just bought a pair of AirPods and/or you’re unsure if you’re running the latest AirPods software, read on.

How to Update AirPods or AirPods Pro

Before you update your AirPods it might be a good idea to dig into feedback from users running the latest software. You can search sites like Apple’s forums, YouTube and Twitter for information about features, bugs, and performance issues.

If a lot of the feedback is negative, you might want to hold off and wait for Apple to release a new update. The releases are fairly sporadic, but you can expect a few updates throughout the year.

If you want to proceed with the upgrade process, here’s what you need to do.

  1. Put your AirPods or AirPods Pro inside their case.
  2. Make sure the case is connected to a power source. You can use the Lightning to USB cable or you can use wireless charging if you’ve got a pair of AirPods Pro and a compatible charger.
  3. Grab your iPhone or iPad and make sure it has an internet connection.
  4. Make sure your AirPods are paired with your iPhone or iPad and then bring the device close to the charging case.

Now you just need to wait a bit. If a new update is available, it should automatically download and install. If you’re having issues with the installation, you can try resetting your AirPods.

How to Update AirPods Max

If you own a pair of AirPods Max, new firmware will download if your headphones are connected to Bluetooth via another device like an iPhone.

If you’re unsure if your AirPods are running Apple’s latest firmware, you can manually check. Here’s how to check your AirPods software version.

  1. Grab your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open up the Settings app.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Tap About.
  5. Find your AirPods on the list and tap.

On this screen you can see information about your AirPods including their current firmware version.

You can also check the current firmware using these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple device.
  • Go to Bluetooth.
  • Find your AirPods on your list of devices.
  • Tap the “i”.
  • Check the Firmware Version.

Latest AirPods Update

If you’re using a pair of first-generation AirPods, the current version is 6.8.8.

If you’re using a pair of AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, or a pair of AirPods Max, the current version is 5E135. The 5E135 update arrived in early May.

You can learn more about the contents of Apple’s AirPods updates over on its support website.

The feature also resets system privacy permissions for apps and restricts Messages and FaceTime to the device on hand.

Apple's also made some improvements to Passkeys in Safari. iOS 16 brings a brand new sign-in method that's end-to-end encrypted and safe from phishing and data leaks.

How to Downgrade from iOS 15.7.8 to iOS 15.7.7 is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Update: Apple recently stopped signing on iOS 15.7.7 which means you can no longer downgrade from iOS 15.7.8 to iOS 15.7.7. Do not use these instructions. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to downgrade again.

This is how to go back to iOS 15.7.7 from iOS 15.7.8.

If you run into problems on iOS 15.7.7, and you think moving your iPhone back to the previous version of iOS 15 could help, this guide will help you downgrade.

You can only go back to iOS 15.7.7. You can’t go back further than that. The path back to iOS 15.7.6 and below is closed and it won’t re-open.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14. Initially it looked like Apple would let iPhone users stay on iOS 14 and continue to receive security updates and, perhaps, bug fixes for lingering issues. Unfortunately, those plans have changed.

Apple hasn’t pushed a new version of iOS 14 in awhile and the most recent version of iOS 14 is gone. Devices running iOS 14.8 and below can only move to the latest version of iOS 15.

This is important because it means there probably won’t be a way to downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14 moving forward. The only way this happens is if Apple releases a new version of iOS 14.

Once you downgrade, you can only restore a backup that you made on iOS 15.7.7 so keep that in mind in case you need to restore a backup.

Most users will have a recent backup, but you may lose some items if you aren’t regularly backing up your photos and messages to iCloud.

While this isn’t officially supported, it is easy to do and you don’t lose any support or mess with your iPhone’s warranty.

How to Downgrade from iOS 15.7.8 to iOS 15.7.7

Here’s what you need to do to go back to iOS 15.7.7 on your iPhone. While you are downgrading you cannot use your phone so you will need to open this on your computer or another device.

If you made an archived backup, you can use that after you restore it. If you are doing this right after the iOS 15.7.8 release, you might have a iOS 15.7.7 backup available on iCloud or your computer.

Follow these steps to go back to iOS 15.7.7 from iOS 15.7.8:

  • Download the iOS 15.7.7 update for your iPhone from this website.
  • Make sure there is still a green checkmark next to the update’s name. If there is not one, do not proceed.
  • Turn off Find My iPhone on your iPhone. Go to Settings -> tap on your name at the top of settings -> Tap on your Name at the top -> Tap on Find My iPhone -> Toggle off and Enter your password.
  • With your phone backed up and all the steps above completed, plug your iPhone into your computer.
  • Now, Open iTunes and Click on the iPhone icon.
This is how this process works if you are still on macOS Mojave. If you’ve already upgraded to macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur, you will need to start this process in Finder. Instead of opening iTunes, open Finder and click on your iPhone in the left side.

  • Click on the Restore iPhone button using a special click. On a Mac, hold alt/option when you click. On PC, hold Shift when you click.
  • In the window that opens, find the iOS 15.7.7 file you just downloaded and click on it and then click open.
  • Choose to erase and restore your iPhoneClick Restore to begin this process
  • While you wait the iPhone will restart multiple times. When it is finished you will be back on iOS 15.7.7.

This process takes a little while to complete. When it does, you can start fresh or restore a backup made on iOS 15.7.7. Most people will want to install a backup.

If your Apple Watch is feeling sluggish, you might try clearing the cache. Deleting browsing data, history, and cookies, has the potential to speed your watch up.

The Apple Watch doesn’t come with a full blown version of Safari (or Google Chrome) for that matter, but you it does allow you to open up website links you receive in emails and messages from friends and family.

The data from these links can buildup over time and if you’re running out of space, getting rid of these files could have a positive impact on your Apple Watch’s performance.

Clearing the cache is a bit different on the Apple Watch as opposed to iPhone or iPad. It’s actually a lot easier and only requires a few quick steps.

Below we’ll detail how to get rid of website data on your Apple Watch. Note that you can’t do this from the Watch app on your iPhone.

How to Clear Cache on Apple Watch

  • First, open up the Settings app on your Apple Watch
  • Next, tap General
  • Once you’re in this section, scroll down and tap Website Data

  • If you want to go through with this process, tap Clear Website Data
  • Another popup will appear to confirm your decision

Apple notes this will remove website cookies, credentials, and other browsing data. It’s good to do this every once in awhile to keep your device feeling snappy.

If your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air’s battery life starts draining faster than you think it should, you’ll want to take some steps to alleviate the problem before getting in touch with Apple support.

In most cases, your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro battery life problems are related to the software it’s running. Apps and services can put a huge strain on the battery.

That being said, there’s also a chance it’s a hardware issue. If none of these fixes work, you may need to schedule an appointment with Apple, or another retailer, to obtain a replacement. We’ll show you how to check for a hardware issue later on in this guide.

Before you schedule an appointment, you’ll want to try and fix the issues on your own. In this guide we’ll show you how to quickly fix MacBook battery life problems. These fixes have worked for us, and many others, in the past and hopefully they work for you.

Restart Your MacBook

Before you do anything else, try a simple restart. Power down your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, wait a minute or so, and then power it back on. Monitor your device’s battery life for a bit and see if it improves.

You can also try hard resetting your MacBook if the battery drain is really bad. If you don’t know how to force restart a MacBook, check out our guide.

Update Your MacBook

Updating your MacBook to the latest macOS software could help fix your issues. If you’re running older firmware, try moving to the latest version of the operating system.

Head into your MacBook’s Settings app and look for the Software Update section. If you aren’t running the latest version on your MacBook, you’ll be prompted to download it.

Apple probably doesn’t list a fix for battery drain issues in the update’s change log, but new software always has the potential to help.

For about the latest version of macOS, head over to our guide.

Update Your Applications

You’ll also want to make sure the applications are up-to-date on your MacBook. A new version could help fix the battery drain issues you’re experiencing.

Head into the Mac App Store and check for recent updates. If you’re feeling leery, you’ll want to dig into reviews from Mac users who downloaded the most recent update.

Check Your Battery Usage

You can get a feel for what might be draining your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air’s battery life by checking your battery usage.

First, click on the battery icon located in the upper right corner of your Mac. If you see an app “Using Significant Energy” you may want to close that app to conserve battery. You also might see “Display Brightness” in which case you’ll want to turn it down.

If you see an app there that you aren’t using or are barely using, and you see it there on a regular basis, you’ll want to check in with the developer to see if there’s update, an update planned, or if there’s a known issue with your MacBook or operating system.

You’ll also want to use your MacBook’s battery usage history as it gives you details about your Mac’s battery life over the last 24 hours or the last 10 days. You’ll find it in your Mac’s System Settings in the “Battery” section.

It’s broken down into “Battery Level” and “Screen On Usage” so you can see how your Mac’s battery is performing. If the readouts are way off, you might need to contact Apple customer service.

Check Your Battery’s Health

If you’ve owned your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro for awhile, there’s a chance its battery has degraded to the point where it has trouble holding a charge. In some cases, you may not be able to take it off the charger for more than a new minutes.

You’ll know this if you click the battery icon in the upper right hand corner and you see a “Service Recommended” message next to a caution icon.

Clicking “Service Recommended” will take you to the Battery section of your Settings. In this section, you’ll see  “Battery Health” and next to it, you’ll see an exclamation point in a circle. Click that.

In this next section, you’ll want to make sure “Optimized Battery Charging” and “Manage battery longevity” are both toggled on. Next, click “Service Options” in the top right corner.

This will bring you to Apple’s website where you can schedule an appointment to get your battery replaced.

Check Activity Monitor

As we noted above, there’s a good chance it’s one of your MacBook’s apps or services causing the abnormal battery drain. Well, there’s another way to see what’s hogging your computer’s resources.

macOS comes with a handy tool called Activity Monitor and it can tell you precisely what’s eating up your computer’s precious resources.

In Finder, find Activity Monitor and open it up. You should be on a screen like the one in the screenshot above. Click the Energy tab.

Now click the Energy Impact tab. This will sort the list by the apps and processes using up the most energy. If you see an app or process using up a ton of energy, highlight it and click the “X” in the toolbar.

Monitor Screen Brightness

If you constantly have your Mac’s display at maximum brightness, it’ll drain the battery. We recommend enabling the “Automatically adjust brightness” feature on your device to unnecessary prevent battery drain. (Note that this option is only available if you own a Mac with an ambient light sensor.)

  • Click the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Select System Settings.
  • Click Displays in the sidebar.
  • Toggle Automatically adjust brightness on.

If you prefer to manually adjust the brightness of your Mac’s display, you can do that too.

One way is to use the F1 and F2 keys on the keyboard. The other way is to use Control Center, located in the upper right-hand corner, and adjust the brightness using the slider located there.

Disable Un-Needed Items

In order to better conserve battery, consider disabling services and unplugging accessories from your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

You can unplug flash drives, SD cards, and other connected accessories that may be drawing power from your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro to extend battery life.

You may also want to shut off services like Bluetooth as they can be a drain on your computer’s battery life.

Reset PRAM and NVRAM

If none of these solutions truly help, you can try resetting your MacBook’s PRAM and NVRAM. This resets some settings, but it doesn’t delete your Mac’s data.

Here’s how to reset these. Note that this will only work with Intel-based MacBook models.

Reset SMC

The System Management Controller (SMC) manages hardware functions on your MacBook Pro/Air like the battery. Try resetting it and see if battery life improves.

Downgrade Software

If you can’t find a fix for your problem and/or don’t want to wait for the next version of macOS, you can try downgrading back to an older version of macOS.

For more about the macOS downgrade process, take a look at our walkthrough.

Start from Scratch

If nothing helps, you’ve determined your MacBook’s battery is in good health, and you want to avoid a trip to the Apple Store, you might try wiping your MacBook, starting over from scratch.

This should only be used as a last resort and it should only be performed after you’ve properly backed up all of the data stored on your MacBook.

If you’re interested in starting over from scratch, check out this guide.

There’s no reason to panic if your iPhone suddenly displays a temperature warning telling you that it needs to cool down before you can use it. Your iPhone simply needs a breather and it’s not permanently damaged. This guide will explain what the warning means and how to cool your iPhone down so you can start using it again.

Apple states the ideal iPhone operating temperature range is from 32F to 95F. Remember that official temperatures are measured in the shade, but beach-goers, those working outdoors, and others often use their iPhones in the sun.

How to Cool Down an iPhone

iPhone screenshot temperature iphone cool down

  1. Get Your iPhone out of direct sunlight. Leaving your iPhone exposed to direct sunlight in even moderate temperatures can heat up your iPhone.
  2. Remove your iPhone’s case.  Removing your iPhone’s case can help cool it down, especially if it’s dark or bulky.
  3. Go somewhere cooler. If you need to use your iPhone urgently and the above two steps don’t work, you can try bringing it into a cooler environment if possible.
  4. Cool it with your car’s air conditioning. You can blast your iPhone with cool air from your car’s air conditioner vents to cool your iPhone down quickly. This trick works even better if you have an iPhone mount that fits over a vent on your car’s dashboard.
  5. Take the iPhone off the charger. If you get an overheating warning and you happen to be charging your iPhone you should stop charging until the warning goes away and you’re able to get to somewhere cooler.
  6. Pour water on the iPhone. Starting with the iPhone 7, all iPhones are water resistant. If you need to use your iPhone urgently, you can try pouring water over it to accelerate the cooling process. Don’t use ice water and make sure that your iPhone doesn’t have any cracks in it before trying this.

How to Keep an iPhone Cool

Once you get rid of the iPhone’s temperature warning, you’ll likely want to actually use your iPhone without seeing the warning pop up again. To reduce the chances of that happening, you should:

  1. Avoid playing video games. Games use a lot of resources and can heat up your iPhone from the inside out.
  2. Don’t stream videos. Streaming videos can heat things up. Take a break from your shows to keep things cool.
  3. Use Your iPhone in shorter bursts. Rather than using your iPhone for a long stretch, try breaking your tasks up into shorter stretches so your iPhone doesn’t have a chance to heat up.
  4. Reduce iPhone’s screen brightness.  High screen brightness uses drains the battery and throws off extra heat. Turn on auto screen brightness or simply lower it to the minimum usable brightness.
  5. Keep Your iPhone in a pocket or bag. Instead of walking around in the heat with your iPhone glued to your hand, tuck it into a bag, purse, or pocket. That will keep your iPhone shaded when you’re not using it.

iPhone Temperature Warning is Normal

If you do see the iPhone temperature warning, you shouldn’t worry too much. Apple built this warning as a feature to keep your iPhone from suffering permanent damage. Of course, you don’t want to trigger the warning consistently, but it’s common for users to see the warning occasionally. Apple does warn that using your iPhone in excessive heat can damage its battery.

Once the warning goes away, you can access all of your iPhone apps and data like normal. In other words, the temperature warning does not indicate any data loss or permanent damage.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta Battery Life Problems is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you run into iOS 17 beta battery life problems on your iPhone, and you don’t want to downgrade back to iOS 16, you’ll want to try the fixes in this guide.

Battery life issues almost always impact iOS beta software so it’s not surprising to learn that some iOS 17 beta testers are running into abnormal drain on their iPhones.

In this guide we’ll take you through some potential fixes for bad iOS 17 beta battery life. The fixes we’ve listed here have worked for us, and many others, in the past and there’s a chance they will work for you as well.

Restart Your iPhone

If you start noticing excessive battery drain while running the iOS 17 beta on your iPhone, we recommend restarting your iPhone before doing anything else.

Power your iPhone down, wait a minute, and power it back on. A quick reboot can have a tremendous impact on your device’s performance.

Move to the Latest iOS 17 Beta

Apple will periodically release new iOS 17 beta software. While the company may not call out battery life fixes in an update’s change log, new beta software always has the potential to help alleviate battery life issues.

If your iPhone is running old iOS 17 beta software, and new software is available, try moving your device to the latest version. For more about the latest iOS 17 beta, take a look at our guide.

Check Your Apps

Apps, both first and third-party, are prone to acting up on iOS beta software and there’s a good chance one or more of them are causing these issues.

Checking app performance is easy on iOS 17 beta and it should only take you a few minutes to find the culprit, if there is one. Here’s how to do this:

  • Go to the Settings app.
  • Select Battery.
  • Head into the Battery Usage tool. This tool will show you the apps draining your battery and when they’re doing so.

If you use an application a lot, it will obviously drain more battery than an app you never use. That said, if you see something that doesn’t look right, you’ll want to investigate further.

If you see an app eating up an abnormal amount of battery, try deleting the app from your device and see if that improves your  phone’s battery life.

If the app is essential to your daily routine, we recommend downloading the latest update. If that doesn’t help, and you really need to the app to get through your day, you might need to downgrade back to iOS 16.

Developers won’t update apps with support for iOS 17 until we get much closer to the public release.

Reset All Settings

If you determine your apps aren’t the source of your problem, try resetting your iPhone’s settings.

Before you do this, note that it will cause your phone to forget known Wi-Fi networks (and Bluetooth connections) so make sure you have your passwords handy before you proceed. Here’s how to do this:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to General.
  • Go to Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap Reset All Settings and enter your passcode if one is enabled.

Downgrade to iOS 16

If you can’t find a manual fix and/or don’t want to wait for Apple’s next iOS 17 beta, you can downgrade back to iOS 16. The downgrade option will always be available, but your downgrade options could change over time.

Unfortunately, you can only downgrade back to iOS 16.5.1 or iOS 16.5. You can’t downgrade to anything older than that because Apple has stopped longer signing on older versions of iOS.

Buy a Battery Case or Battery Bank

Buying a battery case or battery bank could help offset battery drain you encounter during the beta process.

We generally recommend going with a Mophie battery case, but Apple’s official battery cases are a great alternative if you prefer going with a first-party accessory.

If you don’t want to put a bulky case on your iPhone, you might want to buy a battery bank.

Battery banks are small, portable power sources that can give your iPhone multiple charges. There are a ton of great options out there, but Mophie’s powerstation line and Anker’s Powercore line are a few of our favorites.

4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 17 Beta & 11 Reasons You Should

Install to Help Improve Apple Improve iOS 17

Trying new features before they are officially released is exciting, but that's just part of it. Using the iOS 17 beta will also help Apple squash issues before they reach millions of iPhone users around the world.

Your feedback about the iOS 17 beta's performance could help the company discover a nasty bug or a glitch ahead of the final release later this year.

If you're sick of dealing with issues or sick of hearing friends and family complain about problems, think about giving the iOS 17 beta a try.

If you decide to download the iOS 17 beta and find an issue on board, make sure you report it to Apple. This way, engineers can get to work on a permanent fix.
