NBA 2K24 Problems & Fixes is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The NBA 2K24 release date has arrived and we expect Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch owners to run into a variety of problems at launch.

NBA 2K24 unlocks at 12AM Eastern which means those in western time zones can start playing at 9PM tonight.

Every time 2K releases a new version of NBA 2K, we hear about server issues, performance problems, and bugs. Some of these issues are minor annoyances, others are far more frustrating and have the potential to ruin the fun.

While some issues can be fixed in minutes, others can be much harder to solve. Some of NBA 2K24’s problems will probably require a fix from the developer and we expect to see a steady stream of bug fix updates post-launch.

With that in mind, we want to take you through some of the most common NBA 2K24 problems and show you how to fix them so  you can get back to enjoying the game.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Face Scan Problems

Just like the previous versions of the game, NBA 2K24 lets you scan your face into the game so you can play as yourself. People always have trouble getting their face scanned in properly so if you run into this issue yourself, here’s what you need to know.

In order to scan your face into the game, you need to download the MyNBA2K24 app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Once you’ve got the app downloaded you need to make sure your MyPLAYER account is connected to both NBA 2K24 and MyNBA2K24.

If you’re having trouble properly scanning your face into the game, here are a few tips.

When you’re scanning in your face, make sure you’re in good lighting without any shadows. Shadows have a tendency to mess up the scan.

You’ll also want to make sure you hold your device at eye level. If you hold it too high or too low, your scan could get messed up. 2K recommends holding the phone about 18″ from your face.

Once the scan starts, be sure you turn your head slowly to a maximum of 45 degrees while looking forward.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Download Problems

NBA 2K24 requires a massive download and it could take quite a bit of time to complete on your console or PC.

You may see long download times during peak hours, but there are some things you can try if your download is taking abnormally long or if the download gets stuck.

If your NBA 2K24 download gets stuck midway through the process, try pausing it, waiting a few seconds, and starting it up again. If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to cancel the download and try again.

If the download speed is really slow, try plugging your ethernet cable directly into your console or PC. This could speed up the download, especially if your system is located far away from your router.

If none of that works, try restarting your router. Unplug your router, wait a minute or two, and plug it back in.

If you’re tired of dealing with slow download speeds, you might want to upgrade your router. If you’re interested, take a look at the TP-Link Archer AC4000 or Netgear’s Nighthawk AX4 RAX40.

For more about the NBA 2K24 download, please take a look at our guide.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Installation Problems

Storage issues are often the root cause of installation problems. If you’re having issues installing NBA 2K24, make sure it’s not related to storage.

If you own an Xbox, go to the My Games & Apps section and check how much storage you’ve got on your internal/external hard drives. Make sure you’ve got enough space for the game.

If you’re playing NBA 2K24 on a PlayStation, head into your console’s Settings and check and see how much free space you have available.

If you’re positive you have enough space, but the game still won’t install properly, try hard resetting your console.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Connection Problems

If you’re unable to connect to the NBA 2K24 servers, check and make sure they aren’t having issues. You’ll want to check 2K’s official social media accounts for announcements and DownDetector for complaints from other 2K players.

There’s also a chance your issues are related to Xbox Live issues, PlayStation Network outages, or other technical issues.

If you’re playing on an Xbox, check the status of Xbox Live right here. If you’re playing on a PlayStation, check the status of PlayStation Network right here.

If all of these are up and running, we recommend resetting your router and trying again.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Freezing Problems

If NBA 2K24 suddenly locks up between events, during a cutscene, or some other part of the game, you’ll want to save (if you can) and quit to the dashboard. If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to restart your console or PC.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Performance Problems

If you’re playing NBA 2K24 on a Windows PC and you’re running into performance issues, make sure your computer meets the game’s minimum and/or recommended requirements.

If you don’t meet the minimum requirements, there’s your answer. If you don’t meet the recommended requirements you’ll probably need to tone down your settings.

NBA 2K24 Minimum PC Requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10 GHz/ AMD FX-4100 @ 3.60 GHz or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 450 1GB/ ATI Radeon HD 7770 1 GB or better
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 110 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Directx 9.0x
  • Additional Notes: Dual-analog Gamepad recommended. Initial installation requires one-time internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable 2012. In order to play NBA 2K24 on PC, you need a processor capable of supporting SSE 4.2 and AVX.

NBA 2K24 Recommended PC Requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4430 @ 3 GHz/ AMD FX-8370 @ 3.4 GHz or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB/ ATI Radeon R9 270 2GB or better
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 110 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Directx 9.0c
  • Additional Notes: Dual-analog Gamepad recommended. Initial installation requires one-time internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributable 2012. In order to play NBA 2K24 on PC, you need a processor capable of supporting SSE 4.2 and AVX.

Make sure you’re utilizing the latest drivers for your graphics card. If you’re using an AMD graphics card, head here to find the latest drivers. If you’re using an NVIDIA card, head here.

If you’re playing NBA 2K24 on a console, and you run into performance issues, we recommend restarting the game and/or console.

How to Fix NBA 2K24 Missing VC

If you’re missing VC (NBA 2K’s in-game currency), note that it sometimes takes a few hours for purchased VC to show up in your account. If you’ve waited and it’s still not there, you’ll need to file a ticket with 2K in order to recover it.

4 Reasons Not to Install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 & 11 Reasons You Should is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple’s macOS Ventura 13.5.2 update could have a tremendous impact on your Mac’s overall performance. In this guide we’ll take you through the best reasons to upgrade right now and the best reasons to hold out for a bit longer.

macOS Ventura 13.5.2 is a small point release and it brings an important bug fix to eligible Mac devices.

If you’re still lingering on macOS Monterey or older software, macOS Ventura 13.5.2 includes all of the features from Apple’s latest operating system. If that’s the case, the software could take quite a bit of time to install so keep that in mind if you use your computer for work or school.

If you’re dealing with bugs or performance issues on older versions of macOS, you could see a performance boost after installing this firmware. On the other hand, you may encounter problems after you install the latest version of macOS Ventura.

If you install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your Mac, and you run into issues, you can downgrade your Mac’s software in an attempt to improve its performance. Unlike iOS and iPadOS, the macOS downgrade is always open.

If you’re currently debating a move to macOS Ventura 13.5.2, allow us to walk you through the best reasons to install the software today and the best reasons to hang around on older macOS Ventura software, macOS Monterey, or whatever version of macOS your Mac is currently running for a bit longer.

Here’s How Long the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 Update Takes is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple’s macOS Ventura 13.5.2 update could take a long time to download and install on your Mac. The amount of time depends on your Mac model and the version of macOS it’s currently running.

The company’s released a new version of macOS Ventura and macOS Ventura 13.5.2 is available to download right now if you own a model that’s compatible with macOS Ventura. You can find a list of compatible Mac models right here.

If you’ve downloaded macOS software before you know how long an update can take, particularly when moving from one operating system to another. It can be rather torturous, especially if you rely on your computer to get through the day.

If you’re moving you Mac from macOS Ventura 13.5.1 to macOS Ventura 13.5.2, you’ll get the least amount of changes and the smallest download size.

If you’re moving from older macOS software like macOS Monterey, you’ll get the full suite of macOS Ventura features and a much lengthier installation process.

We can’t tell you exactly how long the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 installation process will take on your computer because it will vary. That being said, we can help you approximate how much time you should set aside should you choose to install the firmware on your device.

And if your macOS Ventura 13.5.2 download is going a little slower than it should be, we can help you attempt to speed it up so you can get back to using your computer.

How to Download macOS Ventura 13.5.2

There are a couple of ways to download macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your Mac.

You can initiate the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 download on the App Store.

You can find the software on Apple’s App Store. Open up the App Store on your Mac and type in “macOS Ventura” in the search bar to find it. From there, click on the “Get” button and the download process will begin.

You can also find the software in your Mac’s Settings app. Open up your Settings app and look for the “Software Update” icon. It’s the gear icon that looks like the Settings app icon. Once you see a popup, click “Upgrade Now” and the process will start.

Prepare for the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 Update

Before you start the upgrade process, be sure to prepare your Mac for the download. A little prep work ahead of time can prevent serious issues.

If this is your first Mac or if you’re unsure about where to start, take a look at our pre-installation guide. It will walk you through the most important steps to take before you install macOS Ventura 13.5.2.

You might be able to get through all of these steps in 30 minutes or less, but it all depends on your skill level and the current state of your Mac. If you haven’t backed up your data in a long time, the pre-installation process could take a lot longer.

You don’t need to follow every single step in our guide, but you will, at the very least, want to make sure all of your important files are backed up. Data loss issues are fairly rare, but if you store sensitive data on your Mac it’s better to be safe than sorry.

macOS Ventura 13.5.2 Download

Once you’re prepared, it’s now time to start the download process. Again, the exact size of your macOS Ventura 13.5.2 download will depend on your Mac model and the version of macOS it’s running.

If you’re currently running the latest version of macOS Ventura and you’re connected to a fast Wi-Fi network, the download could finish up in less than 10 minutes.

If your connection is slower, you’re downloading at peak hours, or if you’re jumping up from much older macOS software, you might encounter a much longer download process.

You can approximate the time it takes to download macOS Ventura using our chart above or with tools like this.

How to Make macOS Download Go Faster

The macOS Ventura 13.5.2 download isn’t huge, but it could still take awhile to complete. You may see long download times during peak hours, but there are some things you can try if your download is taking too long or if it gets stuck.

If for some reason your download gets stuck midway through the process, you’ll want to abandon the download and try again.

If the download speed is abnormally slow, try plugging your ethernet cable directly into your Mac. (Note: You may need an adapter to do this.)

If those steps don’t work, you should try restarting your router. Unplug your router, wait a minute or two, and plug it back in and see if the download speeds up.

If you’re tired of dealing with slow download speeds, you might want to upgrade your router. If you’re interested, take a look at the TP-Link AX3000 or Netgear AX1800.

macOS Ventura 13.5.2 Installation

Once your Mac is done pulling macOS Ventura 13.5.2 from Apple’s servers, the installation process will begin. In some cases, this could take longer than the download process.

If you’re moving up from the latest version of macOS Ventura, your installation could take in and around 10 minutes to complete. If you’re moving up from macOS Monterey or older, it could take a lot longer.

Your Mac might reboot itself a couple of times during the installation process, but this is perfectly normal. Your device should boot up normally once the installation process completes.

Post-Installation

After the update process finishes, you might need to spend time logging into iCloud, Apple Pay, and your device’s various applications.

You also might want to spend time checking your important data (photos, music, etc) to make sure it carried over properly during the process.

After you do that, make sure you test your core applications and services to ensure they’re working normally. If you notice an issue with one or more of your applications, try downloading the latest version from the App Store.

You’ll also want to poke around your Mac for bugs and performance issues. If you notice something take a look at our list of fixes for common macOS problems.

If you install Apple’s new macOS Ventura 13.5.2 update, you might run into bugs, glitches, and/or performance issues.

macOS Ventura 13.5.2 went through testing behind the scenes, but problems have slipped through the cracks.

Some of these problems are brand new and exclusive to macOS Ventura 13.5.2 while others have carried over from older versions of macOS Ventura and older operating systems like macOS Monterey.

In this guide to macOS Ventura problems we’ll take you through the current state of its issues. We’ll show you where to find potential fixes for the most common macOS Ventura problems and provide you with some resources that should help if do you run into trouble.

We’ll also touch on the macOS downgrade as well as Apple’s plans to fix these lingering issues with new versions of macOS Ventura.

macOS Ventura Problems

Some Mac users are having trouble downloading and installing the latest version of macOS Ventura. If your installation gets stuck, try performing a hard reset or powering down your Mac. This typically resolves the issue.

We’re also seeing complaints about the following problems:

  • Abnormal battery drain
  • Lag and stuttering
  • Issues with first and third-party applications
  • Crashes
  • iMessage issues
  • Wi-Fi problems including random disconnects and slow speeds
  • An assortment of issues with Notifications
  • Bluetooth problems
  • Universal Control and Handoff features are broken

We expect the list of macOS Ventura problems to grow as more people transition from older versions of macOS to Apple’s latest firmware

If you haven’t downloaded the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 update yet, we recommend preparing your Mac for the download. Some prep work ahead of time can help you avoid major headaches.

We’ve put together a step-by-step pre-installation process and it will take you through the best way to prepare for the move to a new version of macOS.

Where to Find macOS Ventura Feedback

If you’ve already moved your Mac to macOS Ventura 13.5.2 or if you’re planning to upgrade in the near future, you’ll want to sift through feedback from early adopters. This feedback will alert you to potential bugs and performance issues.

We recommend keeping an eye on YouTubeApple’s discussion forums, social media sites like Twitter/Facebook, and the MacRumors forums for additional feedback about macOS Ventura’s performance.

We’ve also put together a list of the best reasons to, and not to, install the latest version of macOS Ventura and it’s worth a look if you’re on the fence.

How to Fix macOS Ventura Problems

Some of macOS Ventura’s issues and bugs might require a fix from Apple though you may be able to fix some problems on your own.

Before you make an appointment at your local Apple Store, have a look at our list of fixes for the most common macOS Ventura problems. You may be able to find what you’re looking for there.

If your Mac’s battery is draining faster than it should be, we’ve released a guide that will show you how to fix macOS Ventura battery life problems.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for in our guides, head on over to Apple’s discussion forums. If they can’t help you, you might want to get in contact with Apple Support via Twitter or with customer support via Apple’s website.

If you still can’t fix your issue(s), you might want to schedule an appointment to see a Genius at your local Apple Store. They should be able to diagnose your problem in minutes.

macOS Ventura Downgrade

You can downgrade your Mac’s software from macOS Ventura to older macOS firmware. There is no time limit and it’s easy if you have a good backup for your Mac.

If you want to get your Mac off of macOS Ventura, you need to start your Mac in safe mode and choose Restore from Time Machine Backup.

This will take some time, so you’ll need to remain patient, but it’s an option if you can’t wait for Apple to release the next version of macOS Ventura.

Next macOS Ventura Update

If your Mac is struggling on macOS Ventura, you’ll be on your own for a little bit.

Apple’s working on a new macOS Ventura 13.6 update and the software will arrive later this year. For more about the macOS Ventura 13.6 update, have a look at our walkthrough.

The company will also push macOS Sonoma to Mac in the fall, likely in September or October. Unfortunately, Apple will drop support for some older Mac models.

Apple may continue to support these devices with security patches and occasional bug fixes via macOS Ventura upgrades, but the company hasn’t confirmed those plans yet.

For more about macOS Sonoma and its release, have a look at our guide.

It’s an important update and Mac users running macOS Ventura should install it in the near future. That being said, it’s difficult to predict how Apple’s latest firmware will impact your Mac’s performance.

While some users could see improvements, others will run into frustrating bugs and performance issues. That’s why we recommend doing some prep work before clicking install. A little work ahead of time could help you avoid serious issues.

With that in mind, we want to help you prepare for the transition from your current version of macOS to macOS Ventura 13.5.2.

Learn About macOS Ventura 13.5.2

Get acquainted with macOS Ventura 13.5.2’s changes before you install the software on your Mac.

It’s never a good idea to blindly install software on devices you use the most. It’s important to get familiar with the changes on board the firmware so you aren’t caught off guard once the installation process finishes up.

Before you download macOS Ventura 13.5.2, familiarize yourself with all of the changes on board. We’ve released a walkthrough that goes over the most important things to know about the software right now.

If you’ll be moving up to the software from macOS Monterey or older software, you should also check out our full length macOS Ventura guide.

Decide If You’re Upgrading or Doing a Clean Install

There are two ways to install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your Mac. You can simply upgrade and keep everything in place or you can do a clean install if you decide you want to start from scratch.

The upgrade option is the easiest route and it’s the one most Mac users should take. This keeps all your files, apps and photos in place and takes the least amount of time. That being said, it can cause problems and it also keeps the clutter stored on your internal storage.

If you don’t regularly remove unneeded files from your Mac, a clean install will wipe your drive clean and free up space. It will only install the apps and files you need.

You can do a clean installation using this guide. Before you undertake this process, make sure you back up all your important files.

Backup Your Data

Be sure to backup all of the files on your Mac before you install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your device.

Before you download the latest firmware, make sure your important files are backed up to the cloud. We also recommend having a local Time Machine Backup handy.

If you run into problems with the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 installation, you can restore from a backup and be up and running on older macOS software pretty quickly.

From there, you can try installing macOS Ventura 13.5.2 again or try and troubleshoot the issue.

Make Sure You Know Your Passwords

Before you install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your Mac, make sure you have all of your passwords handy/properly stored.

When you restart your Mac after installing macOS Ventura 13.5.2, you will need to log in to your computer and you also may need to log into your Apple account and applications as well.

We recommend using a password manager like LastPass, 1Password or even Apple’s built-in manager to store this information for you.

If you don’t want to use these, make sure you test logging into your Apple account and your email.

Dig Into macOS Ventura Feedback

If you’re feeling a bit leery about the move to macOS Ventura 13.5.2, and we don’t blame you if you are, you should sift through feedback from Mac users running the software.

There’s always a chance you encounter bugs and/or performance issues on your Mac after moving to Apple’s latest update. You can’t really predict what you might encounter.

Software updates typically hit older Mac models the hardest so if you own an aging device, and you’re concerned about the move to this update, you’ll want to track down feedback from those who have it installed.

You’ll want to poke around on Apple’s discussion forums, YouTube, and social media sites like Reddit and Twitter for feedback from macOS Ventura users.

Some of you might want to wait for long-term feedback to emerge before committing. And others might even want to wait for Apple to roll out new software.

Prepare for Problems

macOS Ventura 13.5.2 went through testing behind the scenes, but some Mac users have run into bugs and performance issues.

Mac users are complaining about a variety of issues ranging from abnormal battery drain to issues with first and third-party applications.

If you don’t have an encyclopedia of fixes stored inside your head, you’ll want to track down solutions and have them handy just in case you run into an issue after the installation.

To help you get started, have a look at our list of fixes for the most common macOS Ventura problems. We’ve also released a guide that will help you fix macOS Ventura battery life issues.

Check App Reviews and Install Updates

If you rely on your Mac’s application to get through the day, you should read app reviews before you install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your device. At the very least you’ll want to dig into feedback about the apps you use the most.

App developers are rolling out macOS Ventura support updates. These updates will be crucial to your experience on the new software.

Before you install macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on your Mac, head into the App Store and read reviews from other users. If reviews are mostly positive, you may want to go ahead and install the latest update(s).

If the feedback is negative, you might want to wait for a new version of macOS Ventura or for the developer to update the application(s).

Talk to IT

If you use your Mac for work you may want to check with your IT team (if you have one) and make sure you’re got the green light to install macOS Ventura 13.5.2.

Enterprise problems plague every single version of macOS and they can be particularly nasty after Apple releases brand new macOS software.

If you depend on your device to get work done, it’s important to get in touch with IT to see if the update is safe to use. If you’ve got an IT department, they should be able to provide you with feedback about your core apps and services.

If you don’t have an IT department or a tech on site, you might want to ask around the office or talk to friends who use the same services and see how they’re doing on the software.

Learn About the Downgrade Process

You should familiarize yourself with the downgrade process before you download macOS Ventura 13.5.2.

If you run into problems, apps that don’t work, battery life issues, or just don’t like the new update, you can downgrade to older macOS software. It’s a lot easier than downgrading iOS and there’s no limit to how far back you can go.

The easiest way to do this is to restore a Time Machine Backup that you made right before installing the macOS Ventura 13.5.2 update. If you made a backup, this will help get your Mac running on an older version of macOS very quickly.

Here’s more on how to downgrade macOS software to an older version.

Here’s How Long the iOS 16.6.1 Update Takes is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple’s iOS 16.6.1 update is a small point release, but it could still take quite a bit of time to install on your iPhone.

The company’s pushed a new iOS 16.6.1 update to iPhones that are compatible with iOS 16. The software brings fixes that address lingering issues with iOS 16.

If you’re moving your iPhone from the latest version of iOS 16 to iOS 16.6.1, you get the shortest list of changes and the smallest download size.

If you’re upgrading from an older version of iOS, your iOS 16.6.1 download could be fairly large because the changes from the update(s) you skipped are baked in.

While some of you might want to skip the iOS 16.6.1 download for the time being, most people should install the software today, or, at some point in the near future.

If you decide to install iOS 16.6.1 on your iPhone, you’ll want to set aside some time to get the upgrade properly installed on your device.

Moving a device from one version of an operating system to another can cause problems so you’ll want to monitor the download and installation.

We can’t tell you exactly how long the process will take because it will vary. That said, we can help you approximate how much time you should set aside should you choose to install the latest firmware on your iPhone.

TaskTime
Sync (Optional)5-45 Minutes
Backup and Transfer (Optional)1-30 Minutes
iOS 16.6.1 Download7 Minutes to 1 Hour
iOS 16.6.1 Installation8 Minutes to 20 Minutes
Total iOS 16.6.1 Update Time15 Minutes to 1 Hour+

Pre-Installation

Before you start the iOS 16.6.1 download make sure you’re prepared.

If you don’t know how to properly prepare for an iOS upgrade, take a look at our pre-installation guide. It’ll walk you through the most important steps to take before you start the installation process.

You should be able to get through these steps in 30 minutes, but it all depends on your skill level and the current state of your iPhone.

If you haven’t backed up your data in awhile or you if you aren’t familiar with iOS 16.6.1, the pre-installation process could take you a longer.

You don’t need to follow every single step in the guide, but at the very least you’ll want to make sure your phone’s data is backed up properly.

Data loss issues are pretty rare, but if you store sensitive data (photos, videos, etc) on your device, it’s always better to err on the side of caution.

iOS 16.6.1 Download

Once you’ve prepared, it’s time to start the download process.

Again, the exact size of your iOS 16.6.1 download will depend on your iPhone model and the version of iOS it’s currently running.

If your phone is on the latest version of iOS 16, you’ll see the smallest download size. If it’s running an older version, your download will be larger.

If you’re connected to a fast Wi-Fi network, the iOS 16.6.1 download should finish up in 10 minutes or so. If your connection is slower, or you’re downloading during peak hours, it could take longer. In some cases, much longer.

iOS 16.6.1 Installation

Once your device is done pulling iOS 16.6.1 from Apple’s servers, the installation process will begin.

On newer iPhones, the iOS 16.6.1 installation process could take 10 minutes or less to complete. It took about eight minutes to install on an iPhone 12 Pro that was previously running iOS 16.6.

Your iPhone might reboot itself a couple of times during the installation process, but this is perfectly normal. Your device should boot up in regular fashion once the installation process completes.

Post-Installation

After the installation finishes up, you might need to spend time logging into your iCloud account or signing into your device’s various apps and services.

You also might want to spend some time checking your important data (photos, music, etc) to make sure everything carried over properly.

After you do that, make sure you test your core applications and services to ensure they’re working normally. New versions of iOS can cause apps to go haywire.

If you notice an issue with one or more of your apps, try downloading the latest version. Developers are currently rolling out iOS 16 support updates.

You’ll also want to poke around your phone for bugs and performance issues. If you notice something take a look at our list of fixes for common iOS 16 problems.

Apple’s iOS 16.6.1 update should alleviate some issues, but there are still problems plaguing iOS 16 and the iPhone as we push away from the company’s latest software release.

Some iPhone users are noticing an improvement after upgrading to the latest version of iOS 16. On the flip side, some iPhone users have run into a variety of bugs and performance issues. Some of these issues have carried over from older iOS software, others are brand new.

In this guide to iOS 16 problems we’ll take you through the current state of these issues. We’ll show you where to find potential fixes for the most common iOS 16 problems and provide you with some resources that will help if you run into trouble.

We’ll also touch on the state of the iOS downgrade and outline what you can expect from Apple and iOS 16 down the road.

iOS 16 Problems

The current list of iOS 16 problems includes some very common issues. We’re currently seeing complaints about the following problems:

  • UI lag
  • AirPlay issues
  • Touch ID and Face ID issues
  • Safari issues
  • Battery life problems
  • Issues with the Mail app
  • iMessage issues
  • GPS issues
  • Problems with AirDrop
  • Issues with iMovie and Final Cut Pro
  • Spotlight problems
  • Data transfer issues
  • Camera issues
  • Wi-Fi problems
  • App Store problems
  • Bluetooth problems

We expect the list of iOS 16 problems to grow as more iPhone users transition from iOS 15 to iOS 16 and from older versions of iOS 16 to the latest version.

If you haven’t downloaded the newest version of iOS 16 yet, we recommend preparing your iPhone for the download. Some prep work ahead of time can help you avoid major headaches.

We’ve put together a step-by-step pre-installation process and it will take you through the best way to prepare for the move.

Where to Find iOS 16 Reviews

If you’re currently running iOS 16 on your iPhone, or if you’re planning to upgrade, you’ll want to sift through feedback from other users. This feedback will alert you to potential problems and performance issues others are having on the same iPhone model.

We’ve released our list of reasons to, and not to, install Apple’s latest iOS 16 update and it’s a good starting point for those of you weighing a move up from iOS 15. It will also help if you’re already on iOS 16 and you’re thinking about moving to the latest version.

We’ve also released a guide that goes over the iOS 16.6.1 update’s performance. It’s also a worth a look if you need additional feedback.

We also recommend keeping an eye on YouTube, Apple’s discussion forums, social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, and the MacRumors forums for additional feedback about iOS 16’s performance.

How to Fix iOS 16 Problems

Some problems might require a fix from Apple in a future iOS update. Others, you may be able to fix on your own.

Before you get in contact with Apple customer support, take a look at our list of fixes for the most common iOS 16 problems.

We’ve also released tips that could help you improve your device’s performance and a guide that shows you how to fix iOS 16 battery life problems. If you’re running into severe battery drain issues after installing iOS 16, have a look at those.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for in our guides, you should head on over to Apple’s discussion forums. If they can’t help you, you might want to get in contact with Apple Support via Twitter or via the company’s website.

If you still can’t fix your issue(s), you might want to schedule an appointment to see a Genius at your local Apple Store. They should be able to diagnose your problem.

iOS Downgrade Status

If you run into bugs or performance issues on iOS 16, you might try downgrading your iPhone’s software in an effort to improve its performance.

Apple’s currently signing on iOS 16.6 which means you can downgrade back to the previous version of iOS 16. Unfortunately, you can’t downgrade to any iOS software older than iOS 16.6.

For more about how the downgrade process works, take a look at our walkthrough.

What’s Next

If your iPhone is struggling on iOS 16.6.1 or an older version of iOS, you’re on your own for the time being.

iOS 16.6.1 was the last known update in Apple’s iOS 16 pipeline, but it looks like the company might be working on a new iOS 16.7 update. If it is, it should roll out in September alongside Apple’s new iOS 17 operating system.

The company will push iOS 17 to the iPhone in mid-to-late September. Unfortunately, Apple will drop support for three older iPhone models: iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. Those devices will stay on iOS 16.

With iOS 16.7 reportedly on the way, it looks like Apple will continue to support these devices with security patches and occasional bug fixes.

For more about iOS 17 and its release, have a look at our guide.

Installing Apple’s iOS 16.6.1 update might be tempting, but there are some steps you should take before moving your iPhone from iOS 15 to iOS 16 or your current version of iOS 16 to iOS 16.6.1.

Apple’s released a new version of iOS 16 for iPhone. iOS 16.6.1 is a small point upgrade and the software brings under-the-hood improvements to compatible iPhone models.

If your iPhone is currently running the latest version of iOS 16, you get the shortest change log and the smallest download. If you’re moving from an older version of iOS, your iOS 16.6.1 update will be more substantial. That’s because the changes from iOS updates you skipped are baked into your upgrade.

Most iPhone users should install iOS 16.6.1 today or at some point in the near future. That being said, it’s difficult to predict how the new software will impact your iPhone’s performance.

While some of you could see a boost to your iPhone’s performance, others will run into frustrating bugs and performance issues. And that’s precisely why it’s important to do some prep work before you start the installation. A little work ahead of time could help you avoid serious problems.

With that in mind, we want to help you prepare for the transition from iOS 15 to iOS 16 or your current version of iOS 16 to iOS 16.6.1. This guide will take you step-by-step through the process we use before we tap install.

Cleanup Your iPhone’s Storage

If you’re running out of space on your iPhone, you might need to do some cleanup in order to install iOS 16.6.1.

iOS 16.6.1 requires a chunk of space on your iPhone’s internal storage. If you’re near the threshold, go through your device’s storage and delete files you no longer need to make sure you have room for the download.

Backup Your iPhone’s Data

Data loss issues are fairly rare, but don’t take your chances. Make sure you backup your files before you install iOS 16.6.1.

Many of you already know how to properly backup your iPhone’s data (photos, videos, etc), but if you’re unsure, we’ve got you covered.

Some of you will want to backup using Apple’s iCloud service. It’s an easy way to ensure your important files are safe. If you’re unfamiliar with the iCloud backup process, you’ll want to check out Apple’s guide.

If you don’t want to use iCloud, you can backup your files using iTunes. If you’re running macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Big Sur or macOS Catalina, you’ll need to use Finder, not iTunes.

If you store a ton of data on your iPhone, the backup process could take awhile so remain patient.

Get Familiar with iOS 16.6.1

Make sure you get familiar with iOS 16.6.1’s changes before you start the installation process.

We’ve released a walkthrough that will hold your hand through the biggest changes on board the latest versions of iOS 16, including iOS 16.6.1.

Dig Into iOS 16.6.1 Reviews

If you’re feeling leery about the move to iOS 16.6.1, and we don’t blame you if you are, you should dig through feedback from people using the software.

Again, there’s a chance you encounter bugs and/or performance issues on your device after moving it up to Apple’s latest iOS 16 firmware.

iOS software updates often hits older iPhone models the hardest so if you own a device like the iPhone 8, and you’re concerned about the move to iOS 16.6.1, you’ll want to gather feedback from those who have taken the plunge.

This feedback will alert you to potential bugs and problems. You also might learn about some potential benefits of Apple’s software.

You’ll want to poke around on Apple’s discussion forums, YouTube, and social media sites like Twitter for feedback from iOS 16.6.1 users.

Some of you might want to wait for long-term feedback to emerge before committing to iOS 16.6.1. Others might even want to wait for Apple to roll out its next batch of bug fixes before downloading the firmware.

For more about iOS 16.6.1’s performance, check out our quick review.

Find Fixes for iOS 16.6.1 Problems

We’re already hearing about a number of iOS 16-related problems. Some of them are minor bugs, others are far more problematic.

If you don’t have an encyclopedia of fixes for iOS issues stored inside your head, you’ll want to track down and bookmark fixes for potential problems.

We’ve put together a list of fixes for the most common iOS 16 problems. This is an excellent place to start if you can’t find a fix for your issue.

We’ve also released guides that will help you improve your iPhone’s battery life as well as your device’s overall performance.

Learn How to Downgrade

Apple allows you downgrade back to older versions of iOS. This is useful if your current version of iOS 16 starts causing problems on your iPhone.

The downgrade path back to the company’s previous version of iOS won’t be open forever and Apple will close it off without warning.

We recommend getting familiar with the downgrade process right now so that you aren’t scrambling if and when you need to use it.

Check with IT

If you use your iPhone for work you might want to check with your IT team (if you have one) and make sure you’re got the green light to install iOS 16.6.1.

Enterprise problems plague every single version of iOS and they can be particularly nasty immediately after Apple releases new iOS software.

If you depend on your phone to get you through a day of work it’s important to get in touch with IT to see if the iOS 16.6.1 update is safe to use.

If you’ve got an IT department, they should be able to provide you with feedback about the core applications and services you use on a daily basis.

If you don’t have an IT department or a tech on site, you might want to ask around the office or talk to friends who use the same services and see how they’re doing on iOS 16.6.1.

Update Your Apps & Dig Into Reviews

If you rely on your apps to get you through the day you should read app reviews before you install iOS 16.6.1 on your device(s).

App developers are still rolling out iOS 16 support updates. These updates will be crucial to your experience on the new operating system.

Before you install iOS 16.6.1 you’ll want to head to the App Store and read reviews from iOS 16 users. If reviews are mostly positive, you may want to go ahead and install the latest update(s).

If the feedback is negative, you might want to wait for a new version of iOS 16 or for the developer to update the app before moving your device to the latest software.

Gather Your Login Info

Installing iOS 16.6.1 on your device will prompt you to input your passcode and, in some cases, your Apple ID/iCloud account details.

Most of you should know these by heart, but if it has been awhile since you’ve had to login, or if you’re installing iOS 16.6.1 for someone else, you’ll want to make sure you have that information readily available when you start the installation.

There’s also a chance you’ll get logged out of some of your first and third-party apps and services after the installation completes so you’ll want to have this login info handy as well.

If you want to complete the iOS 16.6.1 installation process in the shortest amount of time, make sure you have all of this info ready to go.

Decide How to Install iOS 16.6.1

If you plan on installing iOS 16.6.1 Over-the-Air (OTA) through your device’s Settings app, you’ll need to have at least a 50% charge and you’ll need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network unless you have an iPhone 12, or newer, connected to a 5G network.

You can also install the iOS 16.6.1 update via iTunes. Simply plug your device in, find your device, and check for an update.

Note that if you’re running macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Big Sur or macOS Catalina you’ll need to update to iOS 16.6.1 via Finder, not iTunes.

How to Downgrade from iOS 16.6.1 to iOS 16.6 is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

This is how you bring your iPhone back to iOS 16.6 from iOS 16.6.1.

If you run into problems with iOS 16.6.1 on your iPhone and you think moving your iPhone back to an older version of iOS 16 could help, this guide will help you downgrade.

You can only go back to iOS 16.6. You can’t go back any further than that. The path back to older versions of iOS is closed and won’t re-open.

Once you downgrade, you can only restore a backup that you made on iOS 16.6 so keep that in mind in case you need to restore a backup.

Most users will have a recent backup, but you may lose some items if you aren’t regularly backing up your photos and messages to iCloud.

While this isn’t officially supported, it is easy to do and you won’t lose any customer support or mess with your iPhone’s warranty.

How to Downgrade from iOS 16.6.1 to iOS 16.6

Here’s what you need to do to go back to iOS 16.6 on your iPhone. While you are downgrading you cannot use your phone so you will need to open this on your computer or another device.

If you make an archived backup, you can use that after you restore it. If you are doing this right after moving your phone up to iOS 16.6.1, you might have a iOS 16.6 backup available on iCloud or your computer.

Follow these steps to go back to iOS 16.6 from iOS 16.6.1:

  • Download the iOS 16.6 update for your iPhone from this website.
  • Make sure there is still a green checkmark in the Apple Signing Status column. If there isn’t one, do not proceed.
  • Turn off Find My iPhone on your iPhone. Go to Settings -> tap on your Name at the top of this menu -> Tap on your name at the top -> Tap on Find My iPhone -> Toggle off and Enter your password.
  • With your phone backed up and all the steps above completed, plug your iPhone into your computer.
  • Open iTunes and Click on the iPhone icon.
This is how this process works if you are still on macOS Mojave. If you’ve already upgraded to macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur, macOS Monterey, or macOS Ventura, you will need to start this process in Finder. Instead of opening iTunes, open Finder and click on your iPhone in the left side.
  • Click on the Restore iPhone button using a special click. On a Mac, hold alt/option when you click. On PC, hold Shift when you click.
  • In the window that opens, find the iOS 16.6 file you just downloaded, click on it, and then click open.
  • Choose to erase and restore your iPhone. Click Restore to begin this process
  • While you wait the iPhone will restart multiple times. When it is finished you will be back on iOS 16.6.

This process takes a little while to complete. When it does, you can start fresh or restore a backup made on iOS 16.6. Most people will want to install a backup.
